This extraordinary 396/425HP 1965 Corvette String Ray Convertible is absolutely stunning! There are very few of these around and with only 36,161 original miles this car is worth every penny of the asking price! To start, let's go over some of the numbers information. The car is based on the Base Corvette Convertible (19467). Positraction Rear Axle (G81), Muncie 4 speed transmission (M21), Side Mount Exhaust (N14), Cast Aluminum Knock-Off Wheels (P48)-recreations, and an original AM-FM radio (U69) This Corvette comes with the original numbers matching 396/425HP engine (T0610IF) which has been rebuilt and cosmetically restored. This particular car it rolled off the assembly line June 10, 1965. "IF" in the engine stamping denotes the 396/425HP engine. 1965 was the first year a big block motor was offered in a Corvette. 1965 was also the only year a 396 cubic inch engine was offered in a Corvette and as I'm sure many of you know, the Chevrolet 396 V8 is one of the most legendary engines of all time. This particular Vette left the assembly line outfitted in silver pearl paint (QQ) on red vinyl interior (407), which is very a desirable color combination, but during the restoration the owner decided to go with rally red paint on red exterior. The rally red paint color, although not the original color of that car, has received numerous awards including:

Please note that due to the fact that the car was painted a few years back that there are four very small imperfections in the paint.
The interior has been accurately restored to original factory specifications using red carpet and red vinyl, both of which have NEVER seen a day outside with the top off. Although that is somewhat of a tragedy, you're guaranteed to find one of the cleanest '65 interiors on the planet. This car was a recipient of a frame off restoration in 1989. During the process, the frame was stripped, sanded, primed and repainted correctly. New, correct reproduction fuel lines and brake lines were installed. The front suspension was completely rebuilt to stock specs. Where possible, all original bolts, nuts and mounting hardware were reused. A new, correct reproduction exhaust and mufflers were installed. After the body was remounted to the frame, the interior work began. The following original items were re-chromed: door handles; window cranks, door grab bars, door lock switches, and; dash switches and knobs. The original dash face plate was restored, and the following gauges were restored to better than new condition: oil pressure; water temperature; speedometer; tachometer; fuel level and; battery. In addition, every single step of the restoration has been meticulously photographed and placed into an album! Along with photographs, we have a stack of receipts that cover the restoration and other services.
