Boy oh boy do we have a bad boy here! We are proud to offer this real 1972 RS/SS 396 Camaro. According to the trim tag the car was originally Cranberry Red on white. In 1998, the color was changed to Platinum silver on grey. On a scale of 1 to 10 both the paint and interior are 9.5s. Under the new cowl hood which pivots on new hinges lurks a nasty Motor that was built by Motor Masters in eastern WI. It is a 400 small block bored .40 over to 409, running 11.5 to 1 compression, and is built with hardened valve seats to run pump gas.
Internally the engine is running an Eagle rotating assembly and crank, roller rockers, and a hydraulic Pro Comp Roller Cam- Extreme Energy (242/248 duration and 542/560 Lift). On top of the motor you'll find Aluminum Victor Junior Heads which are polished and ported, a Super Victor intake, and a 830 cfm Holly HP Carburetor which is fed by a Holley electronic fuel pump. Both the Holly fuel pump and twin electric engine cooling fans are operated by toggle switches on the dash. In front of the custom mounted and anchored motor one will find a racing power steering pump, a new battery, and a new steel four core radiator.
This mean 409 rids itself of exhaust through its custom 1.75" Hooker Super Comp Headers and a custom made 3" exhaust system that is outfitted with an X pipe and Walker Mufflers. An adjustable MSD ignition box eliminates detonation at 6300+ RPMs to protect the motor from over reving. The motor is also equipped with a MSD start saver box. This compact controller provides a retard that automatically retards the timing during cranking to ease the pressure on the starter and flywheel. All in all, well over $10,000 went into building this motor and it has less than 200 miles on it.
Behind the motor sits a 2500 Stall Converter that is backed by a built 700 R4 automatic. It is outfitted with a shift kit and a transmission cooler and was built by Automatic Transmission Design of Wisconsin. The tranny gets the power to the pavement through a rebuilt positraction 4.10 10 bolt rear end with a larger than stock main bearing. Inside the car you will find custom electric Auto Meter Gauges which, in addition to all of the stock data, display transmission temp and oil temp.
The gauges are housed in a laser cut stainless steel dash plate. On top of the dash is a new dash pad. In the dash you'll also find a New Stereo which is run by a Pioneer AM/FM CD player. The sound is pumped out through Pioneer speakers. Underneath the car you will find new A arm bushings in front. Also in the front you will find new Aero Space drag breaks. There are also new air shocks in the rear.
This is one of the fastest cars we have had in while and it will probably be one of the fastest cars to sell, so dont let it get away. |
