There's a strong chance that a writer, any writer, could get called out for using the names Tony Danza and Eric Clapton in a single sentence. But there, I've done it, so let the chips fall where they may. Can you imagine two people less likely to have similar tastes in anything? But what if I told you that, not only do they share a passion, it is one you probably share with them? And me, for that matter!
"I get off on a '57 Chevy..." isn't just a line from Clapton's "Rock and Roll Heart"; it is an almost universal statement of fact. Admit it, pretty much ALL OF US get off on a '57 Chevy. When Tony Danza wanted the ultimate car in "Hollywood Knights" what else could he choose but a '57 Chevy: A yellow-gold pearl, Big Block, Bad Boy-mobile. Now you can have your own exactly like it!
This '57 is a clone of the Hollywood Knights Project X classic. And like the original, it is no Hollywood prop...not at all. We'll get to the "How's she run?" part of our program in just a moment. First, however, let's chat about "How she looks."
She looks damn good. Good enough to have won the Syracuse International Auto Showcase two years in a row, 2006 and 2007. This beauty is as eye-catching as they come but, with her stock ride height, looks just right. The deep yellow-gold pearl (from the '78 Corvette color palette) and her black undersides go great with the chrome wheels and BFG tires. The nice chrome trim all around sets it off nicely. There's a custom made, $2000 hood covering up the good stuff up front.
Inside, you'll find '64 Chevy SS front seats and perfect door panels. What you'd usually find on the dash has been artfully hidden under and behind the new Digital dash. The rear seat is available, but has not been installed because it wasn't in the movie car. You'll have to think about that before your next date.
That's the show...now here's the GO! She's got a Tunnel Ram set up with dual quads on a $20,000+ 468 Big Block with high rev cam, putting out a real 650 Horsepower. See, she does have a Rock and Roll Heart! The power is laid down through a TCI Turbo 400, fitted with a manual valve body. All the bolts under the hood are aircraft grade stainless. There's a twin-fan aluminum radiator to cool her down after foolin' around with her on those Hot Summer Nights. Traction bars (rear) and coil-overs front and rear get the power down and keep you pointed in the right direction. Surprisingly, she'll run just fine on premium pump gas.
The opportunity to own a '57 Chevy isn't unusual. But the chance to own one that both shows AND goes, that'll make others stop in their tracks, that'll put a smile on your face at the strip AND at the Cruize-In...Hey, isn't that what havin' a '57 Chevy should be all about?
Whether you want to join the Hollywood Knights, lay down two long, smoky stripes on your favorite two-lane blacktop or just lust over a classic in your garage, this could be your car. She's waiting for you in Madison, Wisconsin at Benchmark Classics, The Hot Rod, Custom, Specialty and Muscle Car Playground. She'll do YOUR Rock and Roll Heart nuthin' but good.
