1940 has never looked so good! Here at Benchmark Classics the street rods are taking over the showroom, and leading the pack is this 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe sedan.
This gorgeous coupe is like a mullet haircut - business in the front and a party in the back. The business is the exterior. This is an older restoration but still looks great. The candy apple red paint still has that paint-booth fresh shine on every panel. There are some small blemishes in the hood and front fenders, but are not noticeable unless you are right on top of them. If you choose to have them fixed, why not have it done here! Benchmark Classics has a full service restoration and repair facility on site. Heck, our painter Brent Chere does everything from award winning airbrushing to flames that look so real they will burn your eyes. The chrome is show quality and uses almost all of the original style trim and moldings on the exterior.
The drive train is quite the compliment to the restoration. The engine is a small block 350 cubic inch Chevy engine with dual four barrel carburetors, aluminum intake manifold, polished valve covers, chrome alternator, and polished air cleaner housings with K&N performance air filters. In addition, it has a 700R4 AOD that helps it cruise 70 MPH at 1550 RPM's. The horsepower is transferred to a Ford 9" rear axle and it's a blast to drive! The original front suspension has been sent to scrap metal heaven and replaced with a full independent front suspension and rack & pinion steering. Power disc brakes on both front and rear axles stop this pre-war tank with ease. American Racing Torq-II aluminum wheels hide those disc brakes with style, and the Goodyear Eagle GA tires have plenty of tread life left for cruising on the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour! Sticking out the rear on each side at 45-degree angles is the business end of the exhaust, a complete Dynomax performance exhaust system with off-road X pipe.
Now comes the party. This interior has it all, from a GM tilt factory steering column circa 1980s to aftermarket air conditioning. The rear seat, door panels, and headliner are all constructed from the same material and look great inside the red shell of this Chevy. The carpeting had been form-fitted to the floor pans and fits better than any original floor coverings ever could. A small center console has been added to hold your drinks during the ride to your favorite car show, and the late model Pontiac leather bucket seats keep the ride comfy. Other interior features include:
-Grant steering wheel
-AM/FM/CD Stereo
-VDO white-faced gauges
-Summit white-faced tachometer
-Woodgrain gauge cluster and glove box door
-Power windows
-And did I mention AIR CONDITIONING!
Not too often at Benchmark Classics do we brag up the truck area of many vehicles, but we couldn't live with ourselves if we kept this secret. This 1940 Chevy's trunk is also upholstered with the same materials used inside the cab! A nice upholstered battery box keeps the battery hidden but leaves the battery switch accessible to shut off all power during that winter storage season. A spare tire is also along for the ride incase an unfortunate situation arises during your travels.
If you can't go another day without owning this hot rod, don't waste another minute and contact Benchmark Classics immediately! Shipping, financing, trades-we do it all!
